Lessons from the Brits Week 11 July 20th to July 26th, 2014

Our mission to the Rez will always be known as our emotional mission.  Our hearts so immediately wrapped around our dear Navajo’s that every joy and every misery they experienced were also a part of us.  These past couple of weeks has been rather emotional here.  Life always has elements that are hard to understand or ‘get your mind around’ as the Brits would say.  But just when you are good and sad something fabulous happens!

1.  Smores vs Cream Puffs
Sunday – a day of rest.  After a Saturday at the temple it is almost true.  We got up, drove to church and back, fixed a snack dinner and slept forever.  At 5PM we had choir practice but I stayed home to cook and President Erwin came to chat.  There was a fireside at 6 PM and we made that.  Fine.
Then we went to dinner at Ibbotson’s with Mulholland’s there as well.  Adreene had a wonderful dinner for us and we ate and ate.  The cutest thing was that it was so hot we were almost melting but she had a candle burning to help the smell.  Brad and Brian kept holding their hands over it to warm themselves.  After dinner when we were talking about dessert they asked for smores over the campfire.   They are funny!   I had made cream puffs which turned out pretty good but I should have baked them a bit longer to give them a better crust.  We also noticed a huge difference in their whip cream over here.  It is almost solid when you start and whips in 3 seconds and doesn’t expand to make a bunch.  I also had lemon curd to put in them and everyone seemed to enjoy them.   Great fun night.  We walked around the temple afterwards just to get a bit of cool air.
This is my attempt at a reflections picture.  I cut off Angel Moroni.  Sorry.

2.  Castles and Cottages
Today was very nice indeed.  We were on our way by 9 AM and traveled to Bodium Castle.  It was built in 1385 and of course had fallen down quite a bit but we could still understand this once masterpiece.  It had over 30 fireplaces and had toilets.  It was very interesting to actually walk inside such history.  We got in our cars and headed to the next site.  Our van got a bit lost and went and extra 35 minutes.  I never understand why people don’t stay together but our driver doesn’t believe in that.  We ate our little lunch and then headed out to see Rudyard Kipling’s cottage and yards.  It was very nice and very pretty.  There were gardens and paths and even a flour mill.  Great fun.  After our visit we got in the car and of course we got lost again on the way home and took about another hour.  Our driver loves getting us lost and finding the way back the long way.  Oh well, it was a great day.

 3.  Same old….
Back to work.  We have the early shift so we need to be there and ready by 8:30 AM.  It was a pretty good day as we were busy till the end.  For some reason we were so tired when we finished that we fell so sound asleep that we couldn’t get to sleep at night.  I spent forever looking for my fox but I never saw him.  We have found a little bunny in our backyard but he wasn’t out that night either.

4.  Clothing and Comedians
I was in charge of the till and clothing rental.  I moseyed over to the temple for the 9:10 prayer meeting when it hit me that I should have been there at 8:30 to help the early arrivals.  I rushed to get there but was very late and Sister Pilgrim who was my emergency sub was not the list bit thrilled with me.  I spent the rest of the day there and had some up and down experiences with people.  Almost the last people I helped came in and they were in the funniest mood.  They had gotten off track and had gone an extra 1 hour and 45 minutes in getting there.  They kept making fun of one another and they had me in stitches.  The man asked for everything but a white shirt.  I asked him what size and he said, “15 & ½.”  I took down a white shirt, folded it and went to hand it to him and noticed he had a white shirt on.  “I thought you didn’t want a white shirt?”  “Oh, yeah.”  That started them up again and we all laughed till tears ran down my face.  Boy, did I need that!

This was a fabulous plant -- giant rhubarb if you will.

5.  Ancestors and Miracles
Well, today was interesting but not always in a good way.  I gave the spiritual thought in prayer meeting.   I liked the message but the delivery could have been better.   Here it is:
Elder Kendrick stated that “One of the great blessings that we enjoy today is the opportunity to attend the temple.  With an ever-increasing number of temples, the blessings of the temple are available to a growing number of church members.”
My heart is always full of gratitude as I realize that out of all the billions of people that were born on the earth, we have been chosen to be born in the day and age when temples are not only restored but are dotting the earth.  Not only temples but temples with the complete Melchizedek Priesthood ordinances offered not only to Aaron and his sons but to every worthy man and woman of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  In the temple we can be sealed together as families both the living and those who have gone before us.
Many of your stories start with you opening the door to the missionaries and opening your heart to the message of the good news of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.  It is wonderful to listen to your stories and the changes that have happened as you have embraced the gospel.  My story is far different.  My great-great-great grandmother was the first person baptized in her little village in Norway.  Other grandparents were also converted in the late 1830’s and 1840’s of both Norway and Denmark.  When the call came to come to the temple and build Zion on the earth, they left all that they had, some even gave their very lives in answering the call to go to Utah.
Today is the 24th of July, Pioneer Day in Utah and Idaho.  I would like to pay respect to my ancestors for living their testimonies and leaving an example of faith and courage for me.  Now some 175 years later, their great-great-great granddaughter left all that was dear and answered the call to come to the temple of London, England; that my grandchildren and great grandchildren will know how much my testimony means to me.  I know my Savior lives, his gospel is restored to the earth, and that the temple work binds heaven and earth.  It is true.”
While I felt good about that the rest of the day was not so good.  By the time I made it home I just collapsed on the bed and fell sound asleep.  Brad suggested we try one more time to find a tennis court.  I was not in the mood for another let down.  We walked down the scary street, turned down the lane, and around the corner and there it was.  Back in the bushes was a tennis court.  It had a private sign on it.  We walked to the house next to it and they said they were just renting but the owner lived just to the right.  We rang is pull bell and he came and introduced himself as Peter and his wife as Monique.  We asked about the court and if we could pay to play and he said “NO, just come and enjoy it anytime you like!”  Good grief.  If you walk through the path it isn’t even a mile and it is free for the taking.  It has taken us almost 3 months to find something in our own back yard.  Good Grief!  However, my  day and my life just got better.

6.  It happened, it truly happened.
Up and at it and a basically good day.  I did have one cute experience.  The foursome that had taken the wrong road was in the cafeteria eating and Brother Cooper was having a terrible time getting the salt out of the salt pot.  I grabbed it and ran around the table, exchanged with another table’s salt pot, ran back to him and said, “Here you go.  Now It’s ready.  It just wanted to go the long way around.”  He looked up at me and said, “Who wrote your script?  I like this one.”
We finished our shift and headed home for a bit of a rest.  We got dressed and headed to the court.  Wowsie – are we ever out of shape.  Colleen came with us as she was under our window yelling for us.  We had so much fun.  Peter came out and brought a friend and they all said we would play sometimes.  Colleen and I walked home through the pastures and the stinging nettle.  It is a beautiful walk and away from the cars.  SO MUCH FUN!

Don't get too close to the net for the stinging nettle,
but the blackberries are great, poking right in the court!

7.   Happy Birthday Brooklyn!  Thanks Facetime!
Happy Birthday Brooklyn!  We got up and away early!  You always cross your fingers for whatever might happen on a Saturday.  It was a good day; busy but not overwhelming.  I did have a surprising first today.  I was the leader of an instruction session which was very full.  I glanced over the congregation and on the back row a face leaned out and waved.  That was a very familiar face!  During lunch she walked up to me and sure enough, it was Sara Stokes, one of my health education majors at BYUI.  She was here visiting friends in London and they came to the temple and did a session I was assigned to do.  What are the chances of that?  We had a new experience as Brad served as a groom guide and I was the guest guide.  That means that as the guest arrive for the sealing, I group them together, get them in white bootie socks and when it is time I take them to the sealing room.  This couple had a 2 year old boy and a 4 month old boy sealed to them as well.  I got to hold the little baby as he was sealed to his parents.  It reminded me of the day when I held little Livi as she was sealed to Katie and Ryan which means she is sealed to me as well.  It was a lovely experience.  They were late getting there so our shift that ends at 3:00 PM ended up finishing at 5:00.  We were so tired.  We collapsed again and woke up about 7:00.  We fixed a bacon, lettuce, egg and tomato sandwich and while we ate it we called Brooklyn on facetime.  It is the first time we have seen them and it was great fun.  She walked around in circles the whole time till I thought I was dizzy.  After our sandwich we headed to the movie, ‘Dreamer.’   When we got home I tried Brian on facetime and Katie answered.  Oh, they look so much older in just this little time.  We talked to them on their way to Lava Hot Springs.  It was so much fun.  Then it was night and even with a nap we made it to sleep.  I was rather grateful to put that week to sleep or as I have been instructed, put that one on the shelf and forget it!  Good Advice!
These pictures are back to Rudyard Kipling's home.

Loved this big old tree but can't get it upright.

In the orchard they train the fruit trees to grow along wired and
then you can pick the fruit really easily.
I thought Elaine would enjoy this.

So again, I end.  We walked in a 629 year old home and there were moments this week I felt 629 years old.  We had some wonderful new experiences and saw beautiful new things and I held a little baby as he was sealed to his parents.  Ah, how lovely.  Now, shall we try another week?

Oh be kind, what need I say more?
Eat 5 fruits and veggies every day,

Lessons from the Brits Week 10 July 13th to July 19th, 2014

We have lived here all this time not even realizing that we were missing a summer.  This past week the heat hit and we are not only realizing it is summertime; we are melting.  Our new flat is facing the west and it feels like a sauna.  Thank heavens the nights cool off, but I do wish they would cool off a little earlier.  We have also realized the sun comes up much sooner and goes down much later.

Words:
Toilet                     Rest Room, Bathroom
Loo                         Toilet
Rest Room          Where there would be a bed so you could rest
Sister Murdoch is our shift coordinator or the lady that gives out the assignments to everyone.  The other day I was walking down the hall and asked where Sister Murdoch was.  “In the toilet,” said Sister Callaghan (an English Temple worker).  “Well I better hurry and get her out before someone flushes,” I said and turned to run to the ‘restroom.’  The Americans laughed heartily.  When she came out we told her she had been in the toilet and her face went so funny.

1.  People – byes – songs!
The nights are a bit warm and I was having trouble sleeping.  I got up to stick my head out the window (which do not have screens) and saw something out there.  I watched a few minutes trying to figure out if it was a dog.  Brad made a little sigh so I asked him if he was awake.  Huh?  “We have a fox in the backyard.”  We watched it for a long time.  Then we decided it wasn’t a fox because it had such a straight tail.  We grabbed the trusty iPod and looked up English foxes and this was indeed a fox.  Now it is hard to sleep because I am always jumping up to see if I can see my fox.
Church was fine; even driving over and back.  We saw my darling Sister People and I ran to talk to her.  She told her husband I was always smiling and then told me a saying about smiling.
A Smile costs nothing, but gives much.
It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give.
None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor, but that he can be made rich by it.
It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.
Wow!  I had underestimated her.  She doesn’t speak much but brings me her little slip telling me where she needs to be.  Come to find out she lost most of her voice as a child with Diphtheria and tonsillitis.
So we get home and the roast we tried in our new oven looks pretty good.  We made a couple of calls and asked the People’s to come to dinner.  Get this!  Brad said the blessing and thanked the Lord for having people at our table.  We all made it through the rest of the prayer but we all cracked up afterwards.  Brother People said it was the first time anyone had pulled that one on him.
The rest of the day was choir practice and a hi and bye which was a bye for the Christensen’s.
We did have one wonderful bit of news from our Eric and Angella (Eric is a Pediatrician in the Air Force stationed in Clovis, NM).  We went to visit them in March before we came and they had invited his PA, Jen, to come to church.  She did and then came to dinner with us as well.  She hasn’t missed church since, took the missionary lessons and yesterday Eric baptized her and today she was confirmed a member of the church.  We are all just thrilled.

Our picture did not work at all, but Brother Murdoch's is pretty good.

2.  Ahhhh,
Monday was extremely calm.  We went on the Tesco bus, did some shopping and had a breakfast at their diner.  We took Brian Mulholland back to East Grinstead and that went a little smoother.  We exercised and took care of house cleaning.  Calm Day.

Our new back yard, complete with a gagee.

3. Doing it again
Tuesday was back to work at the afternoon session which starts at 2:00 PM.  It was an average day of activity but not near as hectic as the morning shifts are.  We had a lovely walk around the perimeter of the temple grounds and saw some dear.  I am still not sleeping well so I am hanging my head out the window most night to see the fox again.

This picture was taken from the TV room right across the hall.

4.  Floods and Hamburgers
The first thing I do every morning (and at least 10 times a day) is to check our emails.  I had one from CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) telling me I was on standby due to the flooding and displaced people.  WHAT?  I think someone is stitching me up.  Then 2 emails later Katie had a facebook notice about Rexburg flooding.  I quickly went to channel 8 news and sure enough, Rexburg had flooded.  What was even crazier it that it flooded on the high ground up on BYUI campus.  We immediately panicked and called Brian which was about 1 AM their time.  Shanie woke up and told me they had missed the whole thing – not even a drop of rain.  I calmed down then but now was concerned for our ‘other family ‘– Neal and Annette Ricks.  I did wait to call them till about 6 AM but still didn’t get them.  They later sent me emails of their house to show me how lucky they were.  That was absolutely unreal but from what I can see and hear most people suffered only monetary damage and life and limb is intact.
Today was the last day for the Christensen’s and they came to our shift instead of their own.  They had us to dinner the first week we were here so we had them to lunch their last day.  Brad cooked hamburgers and we had fries (chips here), salad, cauliflower, and fruit with ice cream and fresh brownies.  It was great fun.  Then a bit of a calm day at the temple and home to our new Dick Francis book and a hot flat.

The Christensen's say good-bye!

5.  Duvet’s and Wasp
Ah, shopping day.  We headed out on the bus and bought a bedspread for our better bed and our groceries.  It was a fun time, just brilliant.  Then home to lunch and off to the temple.  Again, it was a rather slow day but by the time the laundry is done it is rather a late night.  We put our new duvet together not for the heat but for the looks (however our toes end up cold by morning).  It looked so much better.  We had it all stretched out so pretty and I went to get something and Brad yelled about trouble and slammed the door.  I came running and opened the door to see him with 2 shoes standing on the bed ready to hit a wasp on our overhead light.  He whacked and the dust fell everywhere.  Even bigger problem – he missed.  Again he whacks and again the dust falls.  I was so sad that our new bedspread was dirty even before it was used.

The now dusty duvet.

6.  Walks, Talks and Bus Passes
It’s hot!  Sister Freeman (I am going to start calling her Colleen) called and wanted to take a walk.  We decided to go looking for the tennis courts Anderson’s saw.  It was a scary walk as the sidewalk is less than a yard from the cars rushing by seeming like they are going to take your arms right off.  We came close but didn’t make it to the tennis courts.  Fun to be with her though, we love to talk.
The minute we made it home Brad and Brian were ready to go to Oxted to get our bus pass.  The ride was about 30 minutes away and very pretty.  There is a lot of farm ground here if the trees every break so you can see it.  We found the library, filled in the forms and they said if we were approved they would send us the free bus pass.  Oh the joys of being old, even in England.
Home again and a late night at the temple.  Thank heavens we didn’t have to wait for the last washer to finish.

Even the temple has a round-a-bout!

7.  Thai vs BOO!
Saturday was a pretty good crowd but only about half of the last week’s crowd.  We were busy right up to the very last second so all was good.  We finish at 5:00 PM on Saturday’s and it was too hot to cook.  We called Roger’s and Mulholland’s but they were gone and too tired but Ibbotson’s said they would go out to eat with us.  We went back to the Thai place and had a really good dinner again.  It is a riot being with the Ibbotson’s. It feels like you are with Mick Dundee in life but he has never wrestled crocodiles; played professional rugby though.
Ibbotson’s wanted to see our flat since they have the chance of moving over here.  They came up and of course Brad was showing him his books.  All of the sudden there was this strange sound from our window.  Sister Ibbotson (from now on Adreene) and I rushed to see the single sisters waving some form of Boo man and yelling Boooooo. I had no idea if England celebrated Halloween in July.  Come to find out they were trying to scare Brian M. so they made this ghost like thing and hoped to drop it down in front of his 2nd floor window.  Somewhere between crawling out the window and attempting to walk over the top of the 3rd floor building on a tile roof, Colleen (70 years old) decided it was a bad idea.  THANK HEAVENS!!!  So they went from house to house yelling boo at people.  They are hysterical.  Seriously, the average age is 68 and they are out playing pranks.  They did get one good show when the Boo Man actually went into Strong’s window and she screamed and woke up her husband.
The rest of the night was reading our book.  Whenever I am awake to hear what is happening it is a pretty good book.

I love this group of 'mature' sister missionaries.
The 2 on the left are Welch sisters that I cannot understand;
Sister Adler, Sister ????, Sister Colleen Freeman, Sister George & Sister Hale.

Week 10, done and gone.  I guess I can’t really explain it but it happened.  Meantime life was much more exciting in not a very good way back in Rexburg.  I am sure sorry for those who suffered loss there and hope their recovery will be quick.  So till we meet again, bless!

Please be kind, most of all to your family; then to everyone,

Fear not but believe,

Our love,

The Parkinson’s

Lessons from the Brits Week 9 July 6th to July 12th, 2014

Goodness, it is already time for me to jot down a line or two.  The week has truly flown by as we have been very busy, mostly happy, at times confused, and sleeping better.  Hum, I think that would be due to a tiny little melt down followed by a rather large melt down.   We are still here so I guess it wasn’t all that serious.

1.  21 wild kids and sleeping dinner guest.
Sunday we had volunteered to teach sharing time for the primary.  I had lost the materials I was supposed to use but had come up with an idea on my own.  The point of sharing time was the gospel of Jesus Christ being restored so I showed the video of the first vision and then we talked of all the presents we got because of the restoration: the Priesthood, the Book of Mormon, the organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a living prophet, temples and families being sealed together forever.  They all got a paper with a present with the parts labeled and then colored it.  The older students watched the video and then read the start of the Book of Mormon talking about being written to the Lamanites (American Indian) and all people, and then we showed pictures of the Navajo’s that we worked with in Many Farms.  They were to write them a letter.  Only one girl got it done and they were supposed to finish next week.  I wonder if it will happen.
We invited Sister Freeman over for dinner and the little dear fell asleep and we had to call and wake her up and then she still had to get ready and over.  The meal was a bit cold but really good.  We had Loch trout.  Fun meal.  We love Sister Freeman.  Then Brad showed her his book and read her ‘Road Closed.’
We had choir practice and then a fireside which was not our favorite fireside but nice none the less.
The country side driving to Brighton.
We didn't take any pix this week so I am using old ones for color.
2.  Its right here, I saw it on the map.
Mulholland’s wanted to go over to East Grinstead to look for a rent a car for their September trip.  We were happy to take them over since I needed to get my shoes fixed.  However, we could not find the rent a car place.  After asking 10 different places we finally found it and got him all set up.  We left my shoes at the shop, bought some groceries and went to a tennis club.  We couldn’t get in but I wrote down the info and came home and looked it up.  It was about £250 a year –not that one.  We had a fun morning and came home to exercise.  I was goofing around with the ipad and out of nowhere I slid something and Neil’s face popped up.  Ty and Gus were running and screaming.  I ran down and got Brad and we had fun seeing the kids.  Gus kept hugging the computer.
After supper Mulholland’s had us and Ibbotson’s over to watch ‘Parental Guidance.’  That brought a laugh or two.  We had a lot of fun and headed home to get ready for another week.

Flowers in Brighton

3.  150-163-2000
Early shift this week with new responsibilities.  I keep raising my hand and telling them my brain is full but they don’t seem to buy it.  Tuesday’s are always calm days but for some reason this Tuesday was not calm at all.  We had a lot of French people again which is so fun.  One family had brought 2000 names to baptize and do the temple work for them.  We are not in baptistery this week so I don’t know how that went.
I was just as busy as can be all day and finally it was over.  As we walked out of the temple there was quite the rainstorm coming down.  We made it home and the lightning and thunder just started to crack and roar.   I do not know why that surprised me so but it was fun to watch and listen for a while.
We  fixed supper and I baked a cake.  It was flatter than a pancake.  We had already invited Mulholland’s over before I saw it so we served it anyway.  It was okay but definitely not a cake texture.
We got a call from Neil and he had just found out he had lost out on another job that he really felt he had a great chance for.  I wish I could say that I am going numb but not so.  There is pain from top to bottom and not really much I can do to help.

Some kind of interesting plant/tree.
Along the walk way.

4.  Mattress Cracks and Melt Downs
I didn’t sleep well which was a perfect combination of heart pain and mattress pain.  We received a couple of great ideas on how to fix it but the first thing I needed to do was get the bottom of the bed level so we could try any of the ideas.  As I started mentioning it to Brad he said we would just sleep in the twins and forget it and I over reacted in saying ‘fine, why would I want to sleep by you?’  Brad went immediately to the temple auditor and said we needed help.  Then I was walking by the temple president’s office and he greeting people with ‘isn’t it a lovely day’ type comments and as I passed I said ‘I made other plans.’  He looked at me funny and I explained that it is an old stress management saying when you are having a tough time and it kind of shocks people and you can get a laugh out of it.  Cheeky!  President Johnson then started saying ‘What is stress?  What is stress?’  He is a very clever man and has some amazing come backs which at times could be interpreted as a bit rude.  I had a feeling I was going to get one of them and my tired out aching heart and body just exploded at him.  I still can’t believe I did it but he realized this was real and was sincerely trying to listen to me vent all my trauma of being so far away where I cannot help my family.  He was trying to tell me that I just needed to hang in there and things would work out.  I just said I was tired and I was weak and headed into the women’s changing room.  I got control and made it to my meetings and assignments.  He sent his wife to find me but I was so busy we couldn’t do anything but give a hug.  President Johnson had a wonderful heart to heart with Brad which rather confused him as he had not seen the melt down.  Joy!!!!  If you are going to lose it, lose it right at the top!  I am sure I am embarrassed about it but it just exploded out of me rather unexpected.
After our shift we met with the flat workers and got us new mattresses.  She showed me how to roll up the inside of a duvet and stuff it in the crack.  We found one that filled the hole pretty good.  They were all being so nice.  It looks much better and should sleep better as well so life is improving.
LeeAnn Mulholland cut my hair and then I came home and made a tuna casserole.  It wasn’t as good as before but we had a nice supper.  I was going up and down the halls showing off my pix of my granddaughter Sarah’s self hair cut.  Boy, does she have a cute look on her face.
We went to bed and slept much better.  It is not perfect but definitely doable.

These are the new mattresses with the filler.  It doesn't look
as good as it is.  I tried to show the 4" memory foam mattress that
is really very nice.  The crack doesn't seem to be a problem now.
Sarah with the amazing eyes and self hair cut do!

5.  New Outfits and New Pork Chops
Again, we were very busy in the temple today.  This group from France is so much fun.  There are twin daughters that came to the temple for the first time before they are leaving on their missions.  One is going to Portugal but I never found out about the other.  They are beautiful and so sweet.  It is so much fun working with them.  They are part of the 2000 baptism group but I haven’t heard how they are doing with that as it should take a month.
One of the ladies at the temple this week is a Sister Peoples.  She is so precious; a pretty little Scottish lady with long gray hair that she does up in a beautiful netting.  She either has dementia or early Alzheimer's so her husband sends her in with a note on where she is to be each hour.  She gives me the note and then I help her get where she needs to be.  I absolutely love her.
We went with the shopping van and picked up my shoes and Brad got me a new white outfit that we found on sale in a local store.  I love it.  We bought all kinds of groceries today and headed home.
We had some new kind of pork chop that we loved so it was a nice evening.
My new cotton summer temple outfit.
Not so cute just laying there but I was too lazy to put it on and take a selfie.

6.  Lead Mare Crisis
Well today was much easier and at the same time much more demanding.  We were hit with a change in the way things are organized and you may say there was a whisper uproar of opposition.   Everyone was willing to give it a try but workers were nervous indeed.  It was a calm day right up till the last half hour when the other shift comes in to replace us.  The lead mare came rushing in because of some crisis which she did not explain but needed people I had working.  It was a long story but it ended up being a complete fiasco in the lead mare’s mind that Sister Callaghan and I paid the price for.   The lead mare wins again.
We went over to Mulholland’s and watched a movie and came home to collapse.  That is when I finally found out what had started the fiasco but how it became a crisis that cost me two hours of my life is beyond us.  There may be a time when I have a melt down with her as well.  Ridiculousness and I do not get along.

More flowers of Brighton.

7.  Business and Hot Expanding Towels
Yes-sir-ee!  Saturday was a completely busy day.  I was going from 7:30 AM straight through to 3:00 PM.  It wasn’t kitchen duty so it wasn’t that exhausting.  It actually was just fun to be a part of it all.
We came home and rested for a while and then we headed out to a party at a Thai restaurant for the Christensen’s who are leaving.  We had sweet and sour chicken and pineapple rice.  It was very good and very reasonable.  Everyone around us was ordering duck but we stayed with chicken and shrimp.  It was a fun night with great company.  At the end they bring you fruit and four little white things that look like marshmallows.  They pour boiling water on them and the expand out to little gauze hand towels.  Cute! Funny how life goes on and finally something hits you square in the head.  We drove over with Brother and Sister Callaghan and it finally hit me that their names are Paul and Pauline.  How funny is that?
We decided to go to the end of the movie night but that had been canceled due to the dinner.  Brother and Sister Brown were over there and we started to talk.  It had been her worst day yet so she was pretty upset.  She takes over for me so it was kind of funny how things ended that I started.  By the way, her bad day had nothing to do with my start; it was different people in different times.
While we were talking the little lady from France walked out and told us there was a problem with the hob.  I went to see and said I would go tell security.  Brother Beers came in from security and on the way out I have no idea why but he started telling stories about ‘stitching me up’ or him ‘stitching up’ someone else.  We sat there and laughed for an hour.   We walked home and had to call Alan Morton to see why the Wyoming National Guard had been called into action as Brother Littlefield had explained to us at the dinner.  We called Alan and he was busy scanning high school pictures and had heard nothing of Yellowstone.  Crisis #2 goes up in flames for us this week but a road in Yellowstone did melt.

The toilet is the big winner.  I doubt you can see that there are fish
swimming away in the tank.  People love it!

That be it.  Two months today.  It was a fast and busy week with not a lot of unusual experiences but some interesting moments tossed in as well.  We would walk over to the temple in cool mist and almost rain to walking from the temple into glaring heat.  There was thunder and lightning and down pouring rain and crises and melt downs that probably sounded about the same.  (that rhymed)  We got new mattresses and experienced a new restaurant.  We got to listen to some venting moments and great laughs with new friends.  Ah, a good week indeed!
