Lessons from the Brits Week 19 September 14th to September 20th

1. Soup (and blessings) cure all.
RINGGGGGG.  The Lodge where we now live has an intercom system where people wanting to come see you must first ring your room.  Our morning started early as Jerry was ringing us up at 7 AM.  He had coughed all night and Ardith had caught the cold and was up all night sick as well.  Bother Brown had mentioned he had alcohol so Jerry wanted that alcohol and a blessing straight away.  We called Brother Brown and he was willing on both accounts so he brought his alcohol and they headed over to help Jerry and Ardith.
It was almost a zoo on figuring out church but Jerry and Ardith were too sick to go and LeeAnn Mulholland was too sick to go so we took Brian and went to East Grinstead where he could drop off his hire-a-car and went to church there.  It was a very nice meeting but Brad still didn’t feel that well and Brian had hurt his back so we left after Sacrament Meeting and headed home to a morning nap.  We got up and fixed dinner -- a beautiful piece of salmon and Jerry and Ardith came for dinner.  I finally won on her not doing the dishes but I literally had to hold them in my lap.  After dinner we walked around the temple grounds.  It was so pretty but Ardith thought the grounds looked a bit dry.
Come to find out, that is a very interesting story.  During the shutdown (2 weeks the temple is closed for cleaning and repairs) men came from Salt Lake to lay new carpet.  They pulled it out Monday morning and stretched it across the parking lot.  At the end of the day there was still carpet exposed.  All the locals told them they had to put it up or the rain would ruin it.  “Who do you think we are laying this carpet for?” they asked and left the carpet.  For 15 straight days it didn’t rain in London.  Amazing!
We came back to the flat but Jerry and Ardith didn’t want to sit in our tiny flat and wanted the TV room.  While we were there they saw someone ringing at our door.  Brother/Sister Brown were there with hot rolls and hot soup.  She had rushed home from church and cooked for our sick crew.   We sat and talked mostly about them raising 5 other children left to them in someone’s will along with their own 8.  But they also told us that Sister Freeman had gotten sick and flew home.  AUGGGG!  I can’t live without Sister Freeman.  She plans to have surgery and return so I will cross my fingers on that one.
We took some of the soup for Jerry and Ardith and they took the rest to Mulhollands.  Jerry and Ardith went home and ate it and decided they were well enough to play Scrabble as that is a game they like.  So we played Scrabble and then they headed home to pack for the big trip home.

2.  Alone
All too soon it was time to pack the bags into the little Volvo again.  We only had one goof in getting to the airport and we were not sure where to drop them off but we had them there 3 hours early so we hope it was fine.  (They said it was forever getting through customs and they just made it.)  There were good-byes and then they were gone.  Ouch!
We wanted to go to the Tesco right by the airport so we put it in Sat Nav and she led us astray not once but twice.  We finally just drove home.  We had salmon leftovers and went to see if the temple needed help but we couldn’t get in.  We came home and tried for a nap but that was no good.  We cleaned up and I started writing for the blog.
Another temple worker rang to come up.  He needed us to help him with sending his son money in America.  During the course of the conversation he said, “Ever meet an American with any tack?”  I cannot say as that went over that well with us but oh well – missed me – right President Erwin?
After supper Brown’s came over and we played games.  We played a little Rook, Lodge and they even played Toss Up which is Brad’s favorite game.  We had lots of fun.
On the Wall at Chester looking over the shops.

Found a used book store.  Our trip is complete, right LeeAnne?

I did not see this or we would own it!

3.  Back in the Saddle Again
Up and at it way too early.  We are morning shift this week and I am the one greeting all the women and getting them ready for the session.  I love it!  Really fun sisters today.  We also had 2 new patrons (people coming through for the first time) and I get to help them as well.  That was so fun.  Two young ladies getting married in a couple of weeks.  We also had a young man going through for the first time before he leaves on a mission.  Then another young man came from France that is going to Tahiti on his mission.  His mother was so sweet.  BUT  -- in all the excitement of the day the lift (elevator) broke and we had a real time trying to get everyone up the stairs to the sessions.  One mother and daughter said they were going to go if they had to crawl which is pretty close to what they did but the daughter then went into a seizure.  It was not a first for us with these two but we still had to deal with it.  Anyway, it was a very busy and quite fun day.
Home, supper, blog and Brad is reading us a Tom Clancy.

4.  Busy, Busy, Busy
I didn’t even have time to change into my white dress before they were calling that I was needed.  I never got a break as we were in steady work all day long.  I have a few of new friends; Sister Askew, Sister Rhodes, and Sister Slade.  They both brought a pile of family names and they will tell you about everyone of them.   They are so excited to do their ancestors temple work.  I was calling to see if anyone else wanted to do the 10:00 session and one little lady said “no, I am sealing my mum and dad.”  I told her that was wonderful but was only talking to a dressing locker.  Well, she came back from sealings in about an hour and she was laughing till she couldn’t stop.  She must have hugged me 10 times.  Her father was killed in the war and her mother had a nervous breakdown so they put her in a convent for the Nuns to raise.  She thought she would like to be a Nun but decided she wanted to be a mother more.  Now, she is a member of the church and has done her parents temple work and today she had them married for time and all eternity and she was sealed to them.  We have proxy’s fill in for the dead people and she grabbed the man that acted as her father and said, “Thanks Daddy.”  She laughed and cried till we all did.  And then she hugged some more.  I saw her in the cafeteria and she was still bouncing on the wall.  Families can be together forever!!!!  That means a lot to some people.  And by the way – some people would be me as well.
At lunch Brad said that he had just seen Mark Peterson, Dr. Peterson's son (an Dr. from Rexburg that we had known well) in the temple.  I had actually taught Mark in a tennis class at Ricks.  Then when I went back to work I saw Mark's daughter and I had also taught her in Women's Health at BYUI.  It was so fun to see her.
Home, best supper ever (Brad’s hamburger steaks) blog and book.  Then Mulholland’s called and wanted us to walk the perimeter with them.  On our walk the 4 of us went through a couple and when I turned to apologize for splitting them up I recognized Norm Gage and his wife who are from Rexburg (Sugar City) as well.  He taught at Ricks/BYUI with me as well and both Brad and I taught their son that went through my Health Education program.   We had a fun chat with them.  It was fun to have connections to home again.  After our walk Mulhollands had us over for yummy chocolate mousse for us as well.  GREAT DAY!   GREAT NIGHT!

5.  It’s not Federer, but the Swiss arrive.
First thing we did was check the news.  Scotland is staying a part of the union.  Close vote!
Again, I was working before I could even get dressed.  I have missed prayer meeting both days because we have patrons waiting for us.  I am just getting ready to send the session up stairs when 2 young ladies rush in.  Then 3 more.  I am holding up the session.  Then the matron comes and tells me there are 2 more.  Finally we get them all changed into their whites and the session leaves.  WOW!  A couple of hours later they have finished their session and I hear them talking and realize it is not English – they speak German (help Becca).  I should have realized that and given them translator headsets and all that.  Well, we talk and get us all organized for tomorrow so they will have headsets and language cards to help them.  I felt bad I didn’t do better there but there was no time.  I guess the accommodations center held them up and they nearly missed their session.
The Gage's came to the temple so I got to see them again.  Then a young girl came through and said her name was Gage.  I told her I had taught with her father-in-law at BYUI.  She grabbed me and said that I had taught her in Women's Health.  AMAZING!  I have had 3 students show up in one week.  Love it!
Meantime, Sister Rhodes is all nervous about become a temple worker and I am trying to calm her down.  Sister Askew is so fun – we dropped one of her family cards and I said it had gone askew.  She loved that.  Sister Slade and I are having a great time and more than one tear has been shed as she does her families temple work.  Also met a Sister Taylor that I have become fast friends with as well.  Her niece is in one of the temple video's so I will remember her forever as they have the same eyes.
Really busy all day long and I just loved it.  Home, supper, blog and book.

6.  Not so much
Okay, today was busy as well but it didn’t go as well.  All my Swiss ladies came and I thought I was organized for them but it still took time getting things to the right person.  I had others waiting as well and I made a goof on a family card.  I took it down to the office to get it corrected and I mentioned that I was just so busy helping the Swiss ladies and the office worker said, “It could have been worse.  They could have been Americans.”  I have no idea why that hurt so badly but I just turned and said, “May I just go home where someone likes me.”  She asked if she should make a booking and I said yes and walked out.  I went back to my little area sat down and just let the tears flow.  For some reason I wanted a mother who would always say something nice to me.  She has now been gone for 39 years.  Then I thought of Janet and if I could just go have fun with Janet.   The tears just flowed.  A while later I had to go to the office again and the lady said that after I had left my husband came in and they all thought I had sent him to sort them out.  I hadn’t but it was funny they worried.
Then I got back to work.  For some reason it was just an awful day.  I was busy but just doing the same thing over and over till me head wanted to explode.    (The lead mare was back running things)
We came home, had a nice dinner, blog, blog, blog and book, book, book and I exploded and vented a few minutes and then I was better.  I did the dishes after 10 and went to bed.

A headless bird.

7.  Record Setting Day
We need to be at the temple at 7:15 on Saturday and we were there with bells on.  Things were going great.  I got my Swiss/Germans off with all the right equipment.  One lady had come the day before and I said, “Hello Sister Norris.”  She looked at me so funny.  I asked what her name was and she looked so shocked.  I told her I had thought that she was Sister Norris.  “Oh, I am,” she said and we started to laugh.  All day long as she walked by we would say ‘Sister Norris’ and laugh.
Five sessions had gone up and I was doing pretty well.  The next session was for 11:15 when I suddenly looked down at my watch and it was 10:45 and the session was full.  I turned around and had a queue (line) out the door, down around the locker room and everyone saying they had to be in this one.  Everyone was trying to get a grip.  There were 3 new patrons on the shift and their family members/friends wanted to be with them.  Wives said their husbands were in there and they needed to be.  They kept telling me no more but more were persisting.  Then a man fell down the stairs.  I had 7 Germans, 1 Hungarian and 1 Italian and a few second timers that wanted help and a lady with her dress on backwards (yep—I help that as well and zip up a lot of dresses to boot).  The queue kept growing.  Another full bus arrived.  Finally they took the 11:15 up rather early and I had the next session filled in 10 minutes with another queue.  It was a zoo.  I check the queue and 3 sisters yell, “There she is.  There is that lady we like.”  It was a trio that I always push them closer together because they are joined at the hip.  They are so much fun.
Finally by the 12:45 or 4 sessions later we finally got a grip and had things under control.  They said the whole temple was the same way – sealing and baptistery were overflowing as well.  The kitchen and the laundry were swamped.  I really didn’t have that far to move but my feet were killing me.  They told me I could leave 7 minutes early and I asked no questions – I left.  But when I left I took my wonderful Lindor candy bar – a gift  from my Swiss ladies and some mentos – a gift from Sister Palmer - one of the workers.  It was a great day.
We thought we would go out to eat but Mulholland’s couldn’t and we decided we were too tired.  We fixed left over’s.  Brad finished the book and immediately put on ‘The Man that Shot Liberty Valance.’  I finally finished the blog.  We had a cup of hot chocolate and went to bed.  We couldn’t sleep but at least we were lying still so hopefully our bodies and our poor little feet were getting some rest.

So we are back in the saddle and doing our thing again.  For the most part it was a wonderful week.  I am so happy with all my new friends.  I love seeing all the faces – the brand new patrons, patrons I haven’t met before and the returns.  I love being there to greet them and help them get ready for the wonderful experience of doing ordinances in the temple.

Lessons from the Family Week 18 Sept 7th to Sept 13th

Okay, well then, right!  Here we go again.  We made it to the top of the world and back again or so it felt to us.  Just read on for the excitement!  And I do hope you blog people enjoy the pictures as well.
1.  Cones and colds!
We made it up and over to church for the 9:30 AM Sacrament Meeting.  It was great.  Jerry bore his testimony about finding our fore-fathers homes and how much that meant to us.  After meeting, we headed to the flat, packed up and headed out.   We ate at a cute little place called the Seaview which has no view.  I did it and order the lamb.  It really was rather good, but I need just a slice or two as they gave me all these difficult pieces to eat.
We then headed far north into the Lake District which is England’s first national park. It was beautiful.  Jerry kept saying we were in Scotland but it was all England.  We weren’t sure of our road but ended up going over the Kirkstone  Pass.  Believe you me, or Jerry, that was one tall, very windy, and extremely narrow road.  I thought Jerry was going to get out and run before we were down and safe.  It was absolutely beautiful with lush mountain sides and beautiful lakes.  We didn’t have time to hike or stay so we headed out and northeast towards Edinburgh.
All was going very well until we tried to merge on the big motorway.  The oncoming car didn’t pull over for Brad and there were all these construction cone markers to the left and we hit one and it took out our left rearview mirror.  None of us thought the car would even keep going but it never missed a beat.  Miracle 2.
We drove and drove and Brad had woke up sick as well and he really needed to stop.  Ardith wanted to get as close to Edinburgh as possible because she had all these things to see.  Finally we stopped just 40 minutes from Edinburgh at a little village called Biggar.  By luck we found the nicest Bed and Breakfast ever.  We walked down to the village and had supper and had a nice little walk.  Very cute place.   Then back to our room and a good night’s sleep.

Brad and Jerry order lunch at the Seaview.

The only view at the Seaview was the Angel Moroni in the back parking lot.

Everyone is enjoying the view but Brad who is not only sick
but rather concerned with keeping the car out of the rock fence.

Loved the fences.  There are miles and miles of them.

 2.  Good to Bad
Breakfast was great; the best omelet I have ever eaten but…..Edit job and I get a steak dinner, maybe even at Harrod’s.
We made it into Edinburgh and sent Jerry and Ardith on their way and we just sat to rest and help Brad recover from the cold plus we needed to wait until we could check into our rooms.  After a bit we walked over to the mall and bought Brad some cold sore medicine and had a sandwich.  We found a little memory land area where a couple was sitting on a couch so we chatted with them for about an hour on the Scottish referendum vote.  Lots of questions on this one.  And get this; they have decided to let the 16 year olds and older vote because they will be affected more.  That sounded really scary until we saw a debate where the youth asked all the questions and they were on top of the game.  I can see both sides but I fear for a little area of the world pulling away in this day and age.  This week will tell!
After we got checked in we took the bus and Brad took me to a place I wanted to go – Grey Friars Bobby.  I know I am the crazy one but my 2 goals were the graves at Westminster Abbey and the statue of a little dog that was loyal beyond loyal to a loving master.  It was so small but meant the world to me.  We then went up the street to the castle and found Jerry sitting out in front of the castle.  Ardith was inside.  We just talked to Jerry until Ardith came and then headed down the street.  We saw a place where they demonstrated weaving wool and went in to see.  Jerry and Ardith went on down the road.  We bought a shirt for me that said Scotland and a cap for Brad that has St Andrews golf course on it.   Great buys!  Then we went back to the museum and had a great time there.  We finally headed back to our motel to unload and check out our rooms.   We paid almost 3 times as much for the worst rooms ever.  Yet, Edinburgh is all booked up with nothing really cheaper that we knew how to find.  JOY!
Jerry and Ardith said they were going Italian if we wanted to go so we joined them.  Jerry got coughing and finally left feeling like something in the food was making him cough.  We went back to the rooms and played rook in the lounge.

Again sorry for the angle, but this clock in the museum was amazing.

3.  Flying Jerry!
We got up and had breakfast which was not too bad; much better than the room.  We hired a taxi to pick us up and take us to the bus pick up.  It had us there in good time.  A bus pulled up and Ardith was so upset because she wanted a big bus that was high so she could see.  A man told her it was a day bus and ours wasn’t here yet.  I held my breath but when it came it was a bigger bus and she was pleased.  We got both front seats but a girl got car sick so we gave her our front seat.  Brad had hoped to give it to the little couple from France but the car sick girl took it the rest of the trip.  Still, I am very impressed at how very nice my husband can be.  (The girl and her sister were from Lebanon.)
Our driver was a true Scot named Stuart dressed in his kilt.  We got everyone on board and headed out.  The minute the bus pulled out he started to talk and kept it up nearly every minute of the trip.  And if he wasn’t telling you the best of facts, he was playing Scottish (or the Beatles) which made the trip for Brad.  We went to Glasgow where we picked up 2 more people and then headed north to the highlands.
There are not words to describe it all.  It was just like we drove out of the hustle and bustle of congested and stressful life and entered a world of open beauty with peace and quiet at every turn.  The best thing of all was that Brad was no longer having to drive and navigate 20 round abouts in a row on winding, narrow streets and he could see and enjoy the scenery.  We were still on winding, narrow streets but our big bus just slid around them with ease and most people looked out for our bus.
Stuart is well trained in stopping for photo shots and potty breaks all along the route.  We stopped at a little place called Luss to take some pictures of the loch (lake in Galick).  I went down to the water while Brad took a potty break.  I saw all these ducks that wanted food.  I went back to the bus for the cookies.  When I was coming around the bus I saw Jerry doing some Scottish jig with the craziest look on his face and all the sudden he took flight and went up in the air and back down again.  I screamed, Ardith screamed and Jerry landed in a heap on the ground.  He had tried to open the boot (bus trunk) which was not only much larger than he expected but also on a spring hinge that flew it open.  He had skinned his knee, his elbow and his hands.  All the time he was flying he was trying to save his camera.  I helped him up and it was truly amazing that he could stand and walk.  His clothes were not torn but his skin was missing.  We will call this Miracle 3.
We stopped all along the way and just saw beautiful place after beautiful place.  We had lunch at Green Kelly’s where we had wonderful soup and bread.  At the Ben Nevis Brad bought me a nice fleece jacket that I love.  More stops of beauty and finally we made it to Portree where we are staying.  They drove us to our Bed and Breakfast who drove us over to another little house.  Brad walked in the wrong room and this lady yelled no but she was all dressed so it was no big deal.  About 10 minutes later Jerry came running up to see our room and walked in on her as well.  Poor couple just decided we should become friends.
We walked down to the city center to find a place to eat and tried nearly every one of them.  Jerry and Ardith stayed on the water front but we walked back up and finally ended up at ‘The Granary’.  We had a fish trio and chips and the most wonderful chocolate cake in the world.  Jerry and Ardith came in so we went home with them – to bed in our very small but nice little bed in our little B & B room.

4.  Happy 50th Anniversary – Jerry and Ardith!
We took off early and again went to sight after site.  It was just beautiful.  We went up mountains and saw waterfalls, glens, lochs, black houses and seals.  We saw a rare white tailed sea eagle and Stuart who is a marine biologist was so excited.  We looked for dinosaur tracks but never found them and just had the best time ever.  We are in the back seat of the bus with a group of Oriental students and they really get a kick out of us.  We are having a ball.  It is wonderful and Stuart is doing all the driving.  Great trip.
We had lunch at a little sea front restaurant where we had some more yummy soup and a baked potato with tuna and sweet corn.  That was so good, got to try that at home.
I do not know if it was the water fall, the kilt mountain or probably the fairy mountain was our favorite.  We were off the back of the bus and the first people up the mountain.  It was wonderful.  They say there are 365 little peaks and the fairies sleep on a different top each day of the year.  All along the ground are rocks made up into little fairy circles where you put your wish in the center and then run around faster and faster until you turn into a fairy.  Brad and I and some of our Oriental girls ran and ran but we didn’t fly away.  Oh well, it was just wonderful to be there!!
At the end of the day Stuart decided to take a new road that cut through island back to Portree.  It had lots of hills and turns and all the sudden we topped a hill where a man was running.  THUD!  As we watched the man jog by the back of the bus, the Lebanese girls and Jerry were screaming about Stuart hitting someone and stop, stop!  Stuart stopped and jumped out and whistled and yelled.  The front of the bus was sure that the bus had hit the jogger but he was just running down the road.  We couldn’t believe that he had hit the rear view mirror with his head or hand so we finally decided he had slapped the bus with his hand which still should have hurt.  Oh well, he was not hit and all was well and we are calling it Miracle 4.
That night we tried the water front fish houses but they had an hour wait so we went back to the Granary where we all had trout and Jerry got some mussels as well.  They were very good.  We also had to have another piece of that chocolate cake.
I do not know how many couples make it to 50 years of marriage but I am sure that not many of those that do will spend their 50th anniversary on the Isle of Skye.  What a beautiful, wonderful day.

Actually only Jerry had the mussels.

5.  Heaven in the rearview mirror!
We got up early, packed and were ready to head out and back to Edinburgh. Stuart picked us up and we started our trip back.   We still had many wonderful stops like the Eilean Donan Castle where the McCrae family still lives.  It was a fun tour in a beautiful spot.  As we walked out 2 of the Oriental girls were standing there and asked if they could have a picture with their American grandparents.  They literally cried they were so happy we would pose with them.  How very sweet.  Then we had dinner in Fort Augustus (yes Gus – a town named after you or perhaps you are named after it) where we had fish and chips again.  Fort Augustus is on the Loch Ness so we got all the Loch Ness monster stories.  It is a beautiful spot so we can understand why Nessie would like to live there.
During the whole bus trip Stuart kept commenting on the fact that the weather was the best it had been in months.  I guess all of August was cold and foggy and you really couldn’t see the sights.  We had dream weather.  In fact, I had taken all my warm clothing and was hot the whole trip.  It was lovely weather and we could see all the wonders just perfectly.  We are this Miracle 5.
Later that day we stopped one more time at a little Scottish village.  We stopped for an ice cream cone and then walked up the street to see the shops.  I took my ipad to take pictures and was hugging it tightly so I wouldn’t set it down and leave it.  They had great buys and we almost got Brad a pair of pants but they were hip hugger type and he changed his mind.  We also found a top he was interested in.  We found his size under a couple of smaller ones but he didn’t like it.  He tried another one on and didn’t like it that much either.  He looked at his watch and said we are late.  We both took off.  We got to the bus in plenty of time.   Jerry and Ardith were standing there and Ardith asked me what we had bought.  “Oh, we bought…..”  we hadn’t bought anything.  I looked down and the 2 smaller tops we had moved to try on the one underneath were between me and my ipad.  I screamed!  Literally my brain froze and I couldn’t even remember what store we had seen them in.  Brad grabbed them and turned to run as we saw the store owner walking to us.  Brad handed him the tops and he glared a minute and then walked off with them.  I was literally shaking.  Brad could have died.  I think the man saw how shocked we were and realized we hadn’t meant to steal them so he just left but we still felt pretty lucky.  Brad even said thanks that I wasn’t put in prison in our nightly prayers.  That didn’t help my night’s sleep.  We are calling Miracle 6.
So anyhow we finished our trip and made it into Edinburgh about 7:30.  It was very hard saying goodbye to all our new friends.  Lots of hugs and pictures.  Jerry was yelling about a taxi and we were off.  We checked into our motel room and got a better room but with dirty carpet. We walked over to the mall and got a sandwich and headed home.
Sister People’s had told us how happy we would be in Scotland and Brad is a big time believer.  When we left Isle of the Skye a heart bubble popped.  Edinburg is Scotland but we wanted to be back in the highlands.  Oh well, all good things must end and tomorrow we get into our car and drive home.

Good Bye!

6.  More castles and traffic jams.
We didn’t leave all that early but we were headed down the road all too soon.  We were going down the east coast right on the ocean but it was a bit foggy and there are so many trees that we really didn’t notice.  We stopped at the Lindisfarne Castle on the Holy Island.  We had to drive over this highway that is covered by the high tide most of the day.   That was fun.  Ardith and I went through the castle and the men walked around the sites.   We found a little shop and did not get our best meal.    We headed south for York which is another great old British/Roman city.  We hit a traffic jam and gave up and turned around and headed out of the city.
We made it to Nottingham but couldn’t find Robin Hood anywhere.   We stopped and had fish and chips if you can believe it and then went to the motel.  Brad and I went for dessert and had a good crumble and custard.  As we came out the church across the street was practicing the bells and it was wonderful.  We were all pretty tired and we just soaked in the tub and went to bed.  It was a nice big clean bed and I slept better than I had in a very long time.

Where is Robin Hood.?
The church across from our motel that rang the bells all night.

7.  Home Again – Home Again.
We walked over to a nearby Tesco and bought stuff for a breakfast.  Then we actually put in ‘home’ and headed back to the London Temple.  We were doing pretty well but the Sat Nav kept telling us there was congested traffic ahead so she (Sat Nav) decided to by pass it.  By pass she did but we nearly went crazy.  We did at least 30 and maybe 50 round about on some little road and we said never again.  We finally came out in some city that we got fouled up in and couldn’t even find a place to eat.  Finally we came out on the M25.  Again Sat Nav wanted us to detour but we weren’t up to that.  It was a creep along journey that Jerry enjoyed the most.  Finally we passed Heathrow and it started to move.   Then there was a wreck but that didn’t stop it very long.   Finally we made it off what is known as the world longest parkway and headed south down A22 where the London Temple resided.  WE MADE IT!!!
We got Jerry a room and fixed a bit of lunch.  Our first order of business was the wash but low and behold my washer machine broke.  We put our clothes in the accommodations’ laundry and unpacked a bit.  I had a dinner planned but Jerry and Ardith wanted to take us out to Smith and Western for ribs.  We had a great meal and came home to cards.  I saw people in the TV room so I went to say hello and Brother Brown heard we were playing cards and headed right over.  Jerry, Ardith, Brad and Bob Brown played cards and I kept score.  After the first 1000 points I talked them into Lodge.  It only took about 3 stomps and 3 yells but I finally got my way and all 5 of us played lodge.  We played 2 hands and everyone decided it was time to go.

Ta-Daa!  Miracle 7!   We made it.  We really, really made it.  The car is fine minus a left rearview mirror, Brad is rather proud that he did as well as he did but he is not talking about how much he enjoyed driving on England’s roads.  I was so sorry I had caught a cold and shared it but we all seemed to cough and live through it.  Jerry and Ardith had quite the experience and celebrated a 50th Anniversary in grand style. I am so happy that it happened.  All 7 miracles were wonderful – well maybe not 6 so much but I am still a free person to goof another day.  Wow!  What we have seen and done is just a blur of beauty and excitement that we will all cherish forever.  We are blessed indeed!    So very blessed!

Cherish,

Be safe,
